Capesize period activity levels have been very low this week and rates moved sideways as the impact of the covid-19 virus continues to weigh heavily on markets and global demand.

Although the kamsarmax/panamax sector has seen positive sentiment in recent weeks, the market has been quiet so far this week and very little has been reported in the way of TC fixtures.

Rates for the smaller sizes firmed this week as the positive sentiment continued, the average rate for a handysize for one year is currently estimated as $8,500/pdpr.
