China: marine economy announces stable expansion

A data issued by the National Marine Data and Information Service showed that, the China Ocean Economic Development Index, which measures the China’s ocean economic improvement, climbed 2.3 percent from 2018 reaching 134.3 in the previous year.

According to the data, there was a climb in the sub-indices for marine economic development rate, efficiency and potential by 4.2 percent, 0.9 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively.

In 2019, China’s gross ocean product climbed 6.2 percent annually reaching around USD1.32 trillion.

While China’s economic and trade exchanges with countries along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road carried on improving, the country’s marine economy has demonstrated an encouraging trend in opening up.
