Suez Canal Revenues Hit $5.6 Billion Despite Pandemic

The Cabinet’s media center said that the Suez Canal’s revenues achieved $5.6 billion in 2020 despite the negative repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The media center published in its report an infographic indicating that the Suez Canal has succeeded in dealing with the repercussions of the pandemic, which included a drop in the flow of international trade and the decline of all countries’ indicators.

The report added that the Suez Canal Authority implemented a number of incentives to attract more cargo to cross the canal, adding that these incentives succeeded in reaching their goals.

“A number of international institutions praised the authority for its major role in the international navigation movement and attracting more investments to Egypt,” the media center concluded.
